We didn’t know it initially, but we’ve been completely spoiled by Lori Bonn Stenshoel. My husband and I have worked with Lori several times over the last 20+ years, but we did not fully appreciate how rare it was to collaborate with such a highly skilled and dedicated agent until we moved away from Eugene.
Lori helped us purchase our first home in the 90’s. Years later when we moved away for new job assignments, we listed the house with her. Thanks to her clever plan, the house sold at top dollar in two days during the height of the housing market crash. In our new city, we worked with other agents -- first to buy, and then to sell -- but no matter how competent, no one compared with Lori. For one thing, she is astonishingly expedient and insightful. She suggested a proactive approach by obtaining a home inspection to identify what to fix vs. what could be negotiated, as well as to provide a full report for prospective buyers. Lori also works with a group of highly skilled professionals and we received immediate bids on cost, scope and timelines. Lori scheduled everything and the fixes occurred at lightning speed. She kept a close eye on progress, translated contractor terminology for us, and was the point-person for issues. Lori suggested staging the interior, which wasn’t terribly common at that time in our price point. We appreciated her honesty in telling us how much of our belongings to edit (lots). She also had her favorites for trustworthy movers, storage, house cleaners, you name it, she happily scheduled anything if we asked.
Last year, we were looking to purchase our forever home back in Eugene and ecstatic to learn that Lori was still here. She was just as energetic and proficient as ever. Still, it was during the pandemic, with low housing supply and high demand. We toured over 50 homes which were immediately snapped up, sometimes far above list price. It was depressing. At one cheerless open house, and by that time tired of it all, my husband and I reluctantly considered making an offer. I love Lori’s frankness. She stood directly in front of me and said clearly, quietly, Do Not Buy This House. Then she pulled us outside and outlined her reasons. She was 100% right. We were on the brink of endless compromise, buyer’s remorse, and honestly, feeling just completely mauled by the whole process. We’ll be forever grateful for her fortitude, artful reality checks, and pep talks because we found a lovely home in a happy, vibrant neighborhood. Lori was a delightfully fierce advocate for us – a true Wonder Woman. We completely recommend!
